apologies – but for a fire tv box 2nd gen- do i enter the full system memory no. of approx. 480,000,000 or your second practical use calculation approx. based on background use? ie the 100mb x 1024 sq = approx. 105,000,000 into the cache memory box? advice as to which appreciated.

A friend of mine is viewing 4K movies on Kodi 17 via laptop on a Samsung 4K TV (lan 100 mbps). I've noticed that many 4K's stutters a lot. Can this be improved by certain settings (or what are the right settings) or is this for the moment still inherent to 4K links ? Or is Kodi 17 not ready for 4 K and will Kodi 18 be better ?

Excellent guide and thanks for forking EAS!

Strange problem, with setting the cache on my Win 10 box. It appears I cannot go over 100mb for the cache! Watching the video you and I have nearly identical amounts of free memory. I tried the 500 mb, 524288000 with all other settings. Rebooted Kodi and everything was working great. After a while all my streaming links stop opening, anything from Placenta/Neptune/Gaia etc. IPTV and other streams are fine however. Even tried 250mb with the same results. Looking at the log I have a bunch of failed to open cache.

Clearly has nothing to do with your video or the addons but my system. I was curious however, how much of your memory is in standby. That and bad memory are the only things I can think of what is wrong. I have 8gb of memory but like 1/2 is used and another 1/2 is in strandby.

finally!  someone who knows their stuff re tubers who don't.   have been viewing you for some time and thx for two prompt past replies.   you said you would address buffering for pc's towards the end of the video but didn't really.   I usually have 3gb available  but you say over  500 mb is over kill.  would it help at all if I set it higher since sometimes still get buffering even with RD  in 720hd?   my bro has a lot more available but with 500mb he has the same issue.   also my speed using a vpn is cut to 50 mbps  so is my read factor to high at 20?   how about my bro with speed cut to 15 mpbs with his vpn & using RD?   stay with 5?   p.s. assume you are aware of tt buffer fix video but yours much better.   p.p.s.  should I restart kodi after as the ares wizard says to?   pls reply   thx
