I enjoyed everything about Solo.  Even though I thought like a lot of people, I know these adventures of Han and Chewie, we don't need this movie.  When I saw the movie I was wrong.  I loved seeing, and feeling how these adventures built friendship, how trust was thrown around with betrayal, but not between Chewie and Han.  To me this movie is about the beginning of Han's turn from being idealistic to a crusty realist and seeing that happen in front of my face is tragic.  I'm glad I got this movie and I think the "hardcore fans" are missing out on a great SW movie.  To bad cause I think Solo is a cliff hanger that can be fantastic if it continues in a Boba Fett movie, then into a Obi Wan movie.  It's a shame that "fan's" would boycott such potential for an incredible trilogy.  I mean if your a SW fan don't you want to see more SW movies?  To do that pay into your fandom.  So, we can see these movies.  Isn't that what we want?  I'd almost like to see Disney cancel SW movies for the foreseeable future.  To see how all the mad, and angry hardcore fans like that move.  We are getting SW at least once a year enjoy the stories the evolution of Star Wars.  If you don't like one movie move on to the next.  I mean I wasn't to fond of AOTC, but I still appreciated that movie as a story filler between TPM and ROTS.  OH well.

Kristian, you have to look at his face when the imperial recruiter asked him his last name, he was sad and lost, Han had no family.  So, when the recruiter gave him the name, you don't think all the imperial recruits called him that?  Let alone now Han finally thinks he has an Identity.  That's huge in a person's life.

When Han said I don’t have a surname. The guy should’ve said well looks like you’re going on this mission solo or alone. Then that’s how he got his name. I would’ve been better with that. I want a Wookie Cookie!😂

Saw it last night. Was alot better than I was expecting. Lando was spot on and most of Han was too.

I liked the officer giving him the name Solo and I will gladly defend myself to the end of the line.

What a lot of people fail to remember in judging Han's character in relation to the saga is that it's a completely different Han. Lawrence Kasdan talked about how he enjoyed writing for who Han was "before he hardened up"

Both made some great points . The only one I'll refer to is Kristians point re: infuse ness killing 2 of Becketts crew. TBH I kind of like that. Kind of like rogue one as well when Kassian killed the disabled guy at the Star and explaining later to jynn that a lot of people have had to do bad to do good. For me it's a tad more realistic that to be on the good side with the moral high ground you have to be straight as die. But if you want to be on the right/good side to be effective and win you have to spend much of your time in the grey , sometimes even the dark. I thought it's even a more poignant point when you relate that to Star Wars terms. It was ok for jedi to live by no revenge , no anger, no emotions etc because they were jedi and had the massive advantage of powers and almost limitless skills.
Where , as it comes down to just ordinary folk fighting the empire they have to be at the very least morally ambiguous as there's too much at stake and need to get down and dirty to stand a chance.
So in this instance it's showing someone who yes ultimately turns out being a good guy but who has to be ruthless to succeed as an underdog and very young.
From her point of view Beckett and co were smugglers, thieves etc and most likely still viewed them as enemy and wouldn't/couldn't take the risk of trying to opt for reason ????

I thought the Life Debt thing was him freeing Chewbacca at the beginning.

i did enjoy this film, I think Ron Howard dd amazing work with the hand dealt… the last name bit was too much but Lando, Han and Chewie were pretty great. I enjoyed Emilia Clarke for the first time since GOT and the reveal was fun. I will take my son to see it on Sunday and I would like to see this story continue, hopefully the replay value wll be higher than the box office showed. This movie should be watched by all Star Wars fans and in many respects I liked it more than The Last Jedi.

I am now convinced that if the original movies were released today people would hate them. Talk about a "lull"…go watch the original again and pay attention to the pacing. Really surprised that people aren't happy with this movie…I went in not expecting much….and I ended up really enjoying it!

KRISTIAN!!! that thing about have a conversation you are in the same side is my big trouble about a lot of the recent big movies in various degrees and you are absolutely right. The fact that the shipment additionally got wrecked in the end of the scene means they dies for a whole lotta nothing

what kristian is saying about lando and how he could easily have his own movie but should first be in another solo or somethin makes me thing of how similarly it played the right way after introducing the amazingly cool Lando in empire!

I'm glad they didn't do the life debt cause the life debt is really stupid. Why can't they just be friends?

  • Matthew Mcgann 14 / 06 / 2018 Reply

I don't understand all the hate on this movie i thought it was good not every star wars movie has to be Oscar worthy it's better when it's just a fun movie and also it's better than the last 2 we had. Han solo is what they make it not what u make it remember that

Everyone complains when they praise everything Marvel does when it might not be great, so why is everyone getting mad that they’re talking about things that didn’t work for them in Star Wars?

  • Ed Musto 21 / 06 / 2018 Reply

Agree with the solo name reveal. Was dumb. But Han speaking wookie makes sense: doesnt want to tip of the guards and to gain chewies trust and attention. As for enfys ness: rebels will kill bad guys for the cause and beckets crew are bad guys at the time. Also becket is an asshole and out for himself, of course he wont grieve and dont forget enfys ness didnt kill val. val killed herself fighting droids. Kessel run was perfect imo. I think kristian is nit picking way too much. Its a great fun film and shouldnt be looked in to so much.

When Imperial Guard gives Han the name Solo….do you remember what happened at Ellis Island regarding last names? Patterns in history reflected in art/movies. Read a book month?

  • Matthew Andrews 25 / 06 / 2018 Reply

Enfys Nest, as the main hero in her own rebel based story view, is simpy killing some random bandits hired by her main enemy who are going after the same thing she is.
